Description
Keel weights are used for either keeping baits below the surface when trolling and/or keeping line from twisting while trolling. When using a bucktail type of bait or any bait that has blades spinning your line can quickly foul up if a blade sticks and the lure starts tumbling around on its axis. A keel weight will prevent this and save your expensive braided line from unraveling. Just attach the bait to the provided clip and snap on your leader to the open loop eye and you are ready to go. I have added shrink over the weights to help cut down on weeds tagging on for the ride.
Currently we are offering these in 1 oz, 1 1/2 oz and 2 oz. Pricing is for 1 keel weight. If you are looking for heavier weights or longer top arms please call me or send an e mail.
I found that when using a 2 oz. keel weight with about 100 feet of line out and trolling at approx 3 mph a twin blade bucktail type lure was about 2 to 3 feet under he surface. So many different factors can be at play here though. Type and weight of line. Rod angle etc. Just experiment.
